About

Lizzy Vartanian (b. 1993, London) is an embroidery artist based in London.


Much of her work is inspired by roots in Lebanon, Armenia and Syria, transforming twentieth-century family photographs into embroidered works of art. She has been fortunate to spend time with female practitioners in Jordan, learning about traditional stitches from the Levant. She has given workshops at institutions including Victoria & Albert Museum, Leighton House, The Other Art Fair and Darat Al Funun. Her work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy of Art and featured on Grayson Perry’s Art Club.


She was a founding member of the London-based Tatreez Collective.

Work

Workshops

Lizzy has given workshops at Victoria & Albert Museum, Darat Al Funun, Manara Culture, The Other Art Fair, The Bakery Art Portobello and the Sunbury Embroidery Gallery.


She is able to give workshops in Palestinian, Jordanian, Syrian and Armenian embroidery styles.


As part of the Tatreez Collective she has given workshops at P21 Gallery and Leighton House, as well as at universities including King's College London, University College London, Queen Mary University and Greenwich University.
